Andy Weislogel (tenor)Andy's earliest involvement in choral music came at the age of nine with the Montclair Boys' Chorus in his native Montclair, NJ. At Hamilton College, he sang with the College Hill Singers and College Choir, where he also directed Hamilton's male a cappella group, the Buffers. After coming to Ithaca as a graduate student, Andy spent four years with the Cornell University Glee Club, touring much of Europe and the U.S. (including a pilgrimage to Graceland). Andy joined the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble in 1994. Since that time, he has also performed with NYS Baroque, the Ithaca Opera Association, and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. Some of his favorite composers of choral music are the renaissance madrigalists Jacques Arcadelt, Clément Janequin and Mateo Flecha, as well as Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Bach, Charpentier, Poulenc, Hindemith and Distler. Andy holds a Ph.D. in Italian and French Renaissance Art from Cornell University. He is currently employed as curatorial assistant in the department of prints, drawings and photographs at Cornell's Johnson Museum of Art, where he curates exhibitions and teaches from the permanent collection. With his wife, Nancy, he enjoys hunting for Arts and Crafts antiques, cooking, and traveling. |
