Keith Slayden (bass)

Keith Slayden has enjoyed singing with the CVE since 1996. He has performed with the award-winning Bernards High School (NJ) Madrigal group, and the Ithaca College Choir. Past credits include placing second in the New Jersey Westminster Choir College Vocal Competition, where he participated in a 3-week intensive vocal training camp. He has also participated in over 30 theatrical productions, both on- and off-stage.

While at Ithaca College, he studied voice with Patrice Pastore. He has appeared with Ithaca Opera, Hangar Theatre, Surflight Summer Stock, Raritan Valley Community Players, Ithaca College Opera, NYS Baroque, The New Theatre and has performed for various local benefits in and around Tompkins county.

Keith recently joined the Board of the CVE, acting as Operations Manager for the group. His favorite genre is early contrapuntal a capella music, when composers were first discovering how to incorporate richly textured harmonies into their songs. He has been employed at Cornell University for 10 years, most recently handling classroom technology and distance learning initiatives for the College of Engineering. Other activities and interests include writing science fiction and researching biblical archaeology.

Activities of the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble are partially funded by the New York State Coucil on the Arts, a state agency, and private donations. More Ithaca area events can be found at ithacaevents.com.
