Loralyn Light (soprano)

Loralyn Light holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Michigan University and two master's degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music. While living in Williamsburg, Virginia, Ms. Light specialized as a soloist of Baroque and early music, singing Handel's Messiah for three years with the Williamsburg Choral Guild, giving three recitals in the historic Bruton Parish Church in Colonial Williamsburg, and performing with the Company of Colonial Players (Colonial Williamsburg's orchestra of original instruments). In Ithaca, Ms. Light has sung as a member of Ensemble Sine Nomine and, currently, with the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble, having just performed Judas Maccabaeus with NYS Baroque. A frequent soloist with the Ithaca Community Chorus, other oratorio engagements include St. John's Bach Society (Detroit), the Traverse City Handel Festival, the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Elmira Cantata Singers' annual Bach Festival.

Activities of the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble are partially funded by the New York State Coucil on the Arts, a state agency, and private donations. More Ithaca area events can be found at ithacaevents.com.
